Chapter 6: A New Plan (cont'd)

After refreshing back at Ptolus for the night, we returned to the stables. Ig as before, was there to greet us. Today, we'd attack the other tower, eliminate the drow there, and perhaps retreat. We first blindly Dimension Door'ed in to the first level of the tower. I count us fortunate that we didn't wind up in a wall or right on top of a trap. There were two drow there, who were taken completely by surprise. Brother Alfus cast a silence spell as we eliminated the guards. We then continued forward and encountered another group of drow. This time, one was able to cry out. However, not too many drow must have heard, and we defeated them along with the reinforcements as they arrived. One drow managed nearly to escape the tower to warn the others, but we took him down before he could do so.

After the battle, Igbot let us know that he felt cold, and we determined that the cauldron that fell on him a few days ago must have carried with it a curse. What a strange way for someone to be cursed. Fortunately, Brother Alfus was able to cast a spell to remove Igbot's curse. We continued exploring the floor, finding a group of bugbears that surrendered without a fight after we took them by surprise. I didn't feel right leaving them tied up, because surely the drow prisoners that we took captive last time have since been freed, and will come to fight us again in the future.

We then continued upstairs and found a several lizard creatures that we were able to eliminate with little challenge. We also found a room full of slaves and bugbears. However, Aeriana went in with a drow disguise, and managed to convince the bugbears to line up in a neat group, allowing Damien to come in and fireball them all. I have to say that was fairly impressive, though I wouldn't have minded charging in to give a few of them a good beating.

We kept moving, always being very careful and silent, until we reached a prison level. Aeriana again, stepped in with her disguise to scout the area, after which we came in and cleared all the drow out. Ig was quite effective against these drow, throwing a pair of daggers from within the shadows that killed two drow without a sound. On this level, we also found one of the kidnapped members of the church in Ptolus. He wasn't Bemmut, but I feel that we're getting closer. There was one more staircase leading up. Hopefully it lead to where even more important prisoners like Bemmut were kept...
